1) Images/content

Make sure that your images are optimized for the web. Also, try not to upload images that are larger than needed. The image should not be larger than 670px. You can also use a tool such as Photoshop in order to optimize the images and reduce the size.

2) Plugins

If you use several plugins, then the website will slow down. If this happens, then disable all the plugins and clear the browser cache. Afterwards you can re-enable the plugins and check the site speed at every one of them in order to see which one of them is.

3) Disable the features that you’re not using in theme options

We offer plenty options in order to disable features in Avada-Theme Options-Extras tab. If you don’t use them, try to disable them.

Visual Composer is a premium plugin which can be automatically updated via a purchase code, not the theme purchase code, but the plugin purchase code.

You don`t have to buy it, because you earned your right to use it for free, within our theme.

Same thing for Revolution Slider plugin.
However, you`re not able to make automatic updates of the plugin, because it requires a license key, which can be obtained only by purchasing it. You don`t have to, because plugin updates are managed by us, with each theme update, before ensuring that the new version is working fine with the theme.

In WordPress, things like widget settings, menus and other settings are stored by folder path. This means that if you change the name of the theme folder, the path won’t be valid anymore. Thus, you need to rename the theme folder like it was named before. Afterwards, you will get your widgets, settings and menus back. Just make a copy of your previous theme folder if you need it, before uploading a new theme.

Read below if you happen to get the 404 error when accessing pages.

How it looks: You have just setup the WordPress installation and the Superhero theme. You went to Admin – Settings – Permalinks and did not select the default option. Thus, whenever you try to access a page, you receive the 404 error message.

Go to the admin area, login and deactivate all plugins. Afterwards, check your frontpage again. If it loads without error, then you have a plugin conflict and you must start activation each plugin. When that error appears again, it means that the last plugin you activated is the one that needs deactivating. Check the others as well to make sure that it was the only one.
However, if the error appears on the front end and the back end admin area, then you must access the site through a FTP client. Change the name of your wp-content/plugins folder to something else temporarily like “plugins.bak.” This will make WordPress ignore your plugins. Afterwards check to see if this solved the problem. If it did, log into your admin section and then change your plugin.bak folder back to plugins . Deactivate all of your plugins via your admin page.

If you install your theme from the WordPress theme installer and get the message “Are you sure you want to do this?”, then it means that your web server is configured with low PHP settings. Those low settings only allow a certain size ZIP file to be uploaded via WP admin.

Most companies configure their server to have the maximum file upload size limit at 8-10 MB. The Superhero size theme is about 34 MB, including the demo content and the plugins. This means that the web server is rejecting the upload due to its size. WordPress is giving an ambiguous response.
